Back from Alaska

Alaska

Two weeks of glaciers, floatplanes and light that never quite left the sky.

I came back from Alaska tired in the good way. We flew in low over water so still it looked solid, walked out onto gravel bars at midnight that were still bright, and stood close enough to a glacier to hear it work.

What stays with me is not the scale of it, though the scale is real. It is how quiet everything gets when you stop trying to fill it. I took a few hundred photographs and probably twenty of them are worth keeping. Those twenty are in the Alaska album.

Floatplane at first light.

The drive back out.
